There is nothing worse than waking up to the consequences of our actions and realizing that we don’t have anyone to blame for our circumstances but ourselves. It is a reality I know all too well and one I don’t wish on anyone. When we are the most prideful, everyone around us can see it but us. I came across this list that tells the whole truth… Characteristics of PRIDE:
1. Insecurity – lack of self-worth
2. The need to be right – thinks he/she knows more than others
3. Being argumentative – lack of respect for authority
4. More invested in being heard than in hearing.
5. Anger – ranting, rage, mean-spirited
6. Irritability and impatience
7. Lack of submissive attitude
8. Not easily corrected
9. Receiving correction but not changing
10. Needing others to take your advice
11. Needing to proclaim your title, degrees, qualifications or accomplishments
12. Being stubborn
13. Comparisons and competition – putting other people down to make yourself feel better, a need to be better than others
What I have come to realize is that HUMILITY allows us to learn a lesson, and PRIDE causes us to have to be taught a lesson. The best thing you can do for yourself to avoid the PAIN that is sure to result from prideful behavior is to continue to challenge the script you wrote, produced and directed in your life. Put your sword down and take a long, hard look in the mirror…awareness is the very 1st step toward change! ❤️EB
